Bacchanalia Mayfair

Writer's picture: THE DVNTHE DVN

Richard Caring's new Mayfair restaurant on Mount Street is the newest Mayfair restaurant featuring art works from Damien Hirst, 2000 year-old artefacts and amazing food. The food is a mix of Italian and Greek. Athinagoras Kostakos is the chef and has immense knowledge working in Greek high-end restaurants including restaurant Mazi, in Notting Hill.

What once used to be a Porsche garage on Mount Street has been completely transformed into a Greco-Roman hotspot.

The Meaning of Bacchanalia:

The Bacchanalia was an Ancient Roman festival of excess where Romans would eat and drink large amounts of alcohol, all in the name of the Bacchus who was the god of wine and pleasure.

The first thing you see are huge Damien Hirst statues of winged horses, lovers and Medusa galloping across the towering ceiling.

Another amazing feature is a £12m mural plastered across the back wall, this time depicting a last supper showing selfies being taken with iPhones, MacBooks being used the Golden Gate bridge.

The staff uniform are colourful togas, which fits in well with the Roman theme.

The evening was an immersive atmosphere, with a DJ.

The Extravagant and decadent interiors was created by Martin Brudnizki (who also did the interiors for Annabel's and The Ivy). The wine list is long and refined, with more than 650 drops from new and old world regions.
